A blog to get Spinal Tap into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (and whatever else I want it to be about)

Christopher Guest TV show?

Word on the street is that Christopher Guest (Nigel Tufnel) is shopping a TV series. He and Jim Piddock are pitching a mostly improvised series (think “Curb Your Enthusiasm) called “Family Tree” starring Chris O’Dowd who tries to track down his real family. They are shopping it around to commercial-free networks like HBO, Showtime and Netflix.

This is a long way from happening, they’ll have to find a network or studio that’s interested in producing it, probably make a pilot, and then see if a network wants to pick it up and air it. Hundreds of ideas are out there, very few actually make it to your TV. But we can hope, can’t we?

Here’s the original article. And then there’s the commercial he did for the 2010 Census they mention in the article.

Also, if you haven’t heard, Michael McKean (David St. Hubbins) was hit by a car in New York. He broke a leg, but seems to be recovering well. He has been on Broadway in The Best Man with James Earl Jones, John Larroquette, Eric McCormack, Candice Bergen and lots of other famous people. He’s being replaced by James Lecesne, and is recovering well.

John Larroquette as Secretary William Russell, James Earl Jones as President Arthur “Artie” Hockstader, Jefferson Mays as Sheldon Marcus and Michael McKean as Dick Jensen in The Best Man.

No big news, good or bad, regarding Harry Shearer (Derek Smalls).
